About Olney Farm Shetland Ponies
In
1920, Olney Farm started a pony breeding business. Over the years, our Shetland
Ponies have been selectively bred for for their hardiness and unflappable
temperament.... resulting in a wonderful child's first pony.
The Shetland Pony Scoiety of North America has just become organized in order to encourage and promote the breeding and registering of the original Shetland pony type from the British Isles -- Olney ponies are a great example of that!
It's not unusual for a Shetland Pony to live more than thirty years
Olney Butterfly, Olney Gepeto X Medical Hall Collette, (above) is doing very well at 19 years old, and certainly doesn't look her age. She lives on a ranch in Genola, Utah with J.T.'s Touch of Silver, T.J.'s High Steppin X Olney Pansy, who is 17.
Young ponies are still available, such as Olney Okay (pictured above winning the Shetland Pony Trot Race), chestnut roan mare, foaled 2000. She could do the small pony division in the show ring, and is a gorgeous jumper. Broken and ridden by a 6-year old. Registered with the SPSNA and eligible for all SPSNA Shetland shows.

Bay colt is by Windfall (Gold Medal Pan Am games, Olympic eventer) out of Keiki (by Orpheus, Olympic dressage horse). His name is Unitas (this is the "U" year - for who else, Johnny Unitas), stable name Johnny. The black, turning grey colt, is by Sonset Seiger (Trakehner by Abdullah (Gold medal Olympic jumper) out of Aerial, by Starman (another gold medal Olympic jumper). His name is Uncle Sam, "Sammy".
